Chinese Tea brings together teas grown and processed in China, the country where tea cultivation began. The collection spans the main categories produced there, from green and white to oolong, black (known in China as red tea), yellow and dark pu-erh.
Here you will find teas from well-known producing provinces, such as Longjing green tea from Zhejiang, oolongs from Fujian and Guangdong, Keemun and Yunnan black teas, and aged pu-erh from Yunnan. Chinese teas are known for their range of styles, from fresh and grassy greens to roasted, floral oolongs and deep, earthy pu-erh. Many are prepared using the gongfu method, with short repeated steeps.
Brewing temperatures vary by type: cooler water around 75 to 80 degrees for green and white teas, hotter water for oolong, black and pu-erh. All our Chinese teas are sold loose-leaf so you can adjust leaf quantity and steeping time to suit each style.
China produces green, white, yellow, oolong, black (red) and dark pu-erh teas, covering the full range of tea categories.
Pu-erh is a dark tea from Yunnan that is aged and fermented, giving a deep, earthy flavour. It can be sold loose or pressed into cakes.
Many Chinese teas are prepared using the gongfu method, using more leaf, less water and several short steeps to draw out changing flavours.
Use cooler water, around 75 to 80 degrees, for green and white teas, and hotter water for oolong, black and pu-erh.
