Sage Pineapple

  • Dried pineapple sage leaves (Salvia elegans), a caffeine free herbal tea and culinary herb with a naturally fruity, pineapple like character. The loose leaves are ready to steep on their own or add to your favorite recipes for a light, garden fresh note.
  • The crushed leaves carry a soft, candy sweet pineapple scent layered over a gentle, herbaceous sage undertone. This fragrant salvia herb lends infusions and dishes a mild tropical lift with none of the sourness or bite of the actual fruit.
  • To brew a cup, add about one teaspoon of the dried leaf and pour over freshly boiled water, then let it infuse for 15 to 20 minutes. It is naturally caffeine free and works served warm or poured over ice for a fruity herbal iced tea.
  • Beyond the teapot, treat it as a fruity flavoring and garnish for lemonade, cocktails, fruit salad, sorbet, ice cream, cakes and other baked goods. A few leaves stirred into cream cheese or a chicken dish add a quiet sweet aroma.
  • Pineapple sage belongs to the mint family and grows wild in the highlands of Mexico and Guatemala, where it is prized for its scented foliage. These loose dried leaves keep well and make a versatile pick for any tea caddy or spice shelf.
